It becomes clear part way through that it’s not actually an alien film, and all though a bit jumbled I assumed the psychos were the film guys from the first part of the film who were talking about setting the girls up to scare them. Not sure why they went murderous and maybe I’ve got the plot completely wrong, but I still quite enjoyed it. Reminded me of some of the 70s style slasher films.
