Critic Reviews for Adventures of Don Juan

All Critics (1)

Though not as exciting as Robin Hood and other Flynn swashbuckling adventures, Vincent Sherman's version still boasts high production values, particularly lush cinematography and art direction, stirring Max Steiner score, and good stuntwork.

Audience Reviews for Adventures of Don Juan

Overstuffed preposterousness with Errol just beginning to fray around the edges is still a feast for the eyes. Ultra lush production values with eye popping costumes, baroque set pieces, the ever reliable Warners stock company and of course a sword fight or two.

Amazing sword fight at the end. Only "Don Juan de Marana" can yell,"The sword is not for a traitor (throw sword away). You'll die by the knife!" and then jump down over twenty stair-steps to knock down his opponent and stab him in the chest. Go Errol Flynn!

Errol Flynn takes the easiest role of his career in the cheesy romp Adventures of Don Juan. What makes the film so memorable is the brilliant score by Hollywood's first legendary composer, Max Steiner. Steiner's score takes the average story, average acting, and average directing to a higher level. Adventures of Don Juan is the perfect example of the power of the musical score. It's also Sloth's favorite movie.
