Anne D @RT23606492 Jun 29 David Sutherland creates a beautiful canvas for the Buschkoetter family to shine. The director's empathic and astute filmmaking creates a film with clarity and honesty. The viewer learns about the plight of the American farmer while also witnessing the quiet heroism, courage, and resilience of this family. The cinematography is poetic. It enhances the beauty of director's approach. The absence of narration allows the viewer to engage with the Buschkoetter family in an intimate and authentic way. See more 04/02/2009 Excellent documentary series from PBS that focuses on one family in Nebraska. A very young couple with 3 small daughters struggling together to keep their farm (and marriage) going. There is no narration to the film - just cameras on and capturing their lifes and allowing it to flow the way it happened. It's filmed beautifully. Though this is a two disc (4 hrs) documentary - I must say I really had my eyes opened and learned much about the plight of the American farmer. This becomes much more than that though, it's just a good at educating on how to keep a marriage going. I really liked both of these young parents (the Buschkoetters) and I think everyone that watches this will be pulling for them - not only for their farm but for them by the end of this film. Directed by David Sutherland. See more 01/28/2008 one of the best documentaries ever.
