Aidan G @RT99299044 08/17/2024 This documentary will shake you down to the bones. A must-see, eye opening experience about the perseverance of the human spirit against all odds! Such a powerful story that needed to be told about the world's newest country and how to overcome decades of trauma and war. See more Dave W @RT74178555 08/12/2024 When two corrupt heartless leaders fight for power and money the country and its people suffer unspeakable tragedies. The team that put together this true life documentary went all out to help you understand the history of the war and power struggles in South Sudan, an area of the world many of us never hear or think about. It goes into details on the high level power struggles and corruptions at the top (the elephants fighting) and show the dramatic effect on the people of the country (the grass). They share an interview of the struggles and unbelievable journey of a mother and daughter trying to escape war and persecution. Their journey will have you on the edge of seat wondering how they could possibly survive against unbelievable odds. This documentary is clearly worth watching See more Heather B @RT17090911 08/10/2024 Riveting!! My heart was gripped with compassion for this brave and resilient young girl as her story was masterfully told. My eyes have been opened to a world I was completely unaware of. You will after watching this. Wonderfully done. Extremely compelling and emotional story. See more Alexandra R @RT69431153 08/09/2024 The dynamic storytelling of Elephants and the Grass coupled with its rich cinematography paints a sobering, yet beautiful story of strength and resilience - not just of Shamira, but the entire country of South Sudan. A must-see that will both break your heart and inspire you into action. Thank you for elevating these voices! See more Leslie T @RT95409529 08/08/2024 Absolutely breathtaking. This documentary captures the reality of the horrors so many people are facing in South Sudan and allows us, as viewers, to hear the story firsthand from some of the brave survivors. It is heartbreaking to hear their accounts, but so important to, as a fellow human, to wade into the reality of what is happening in our world. I learned so much, but more importantly, got to see the real people behind the "headline". What an act of bravery in the storytelling and what tremendous craftsmanship in the film. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time as we watched the story unfold, willed the horrific moments to be untrue, and cheered for the hopeful victories of Shamira and Yasmin. Truly a remarkable film experience in all definitions of the word and a story I will continue to come back to, as well as follow up with as we look for change for South Sudan, its government, and its people.
