After surviving a bloody fight with powerful gangsters, rookie Jakarta cop Rama thinks he can resume a normal life. However, his exploits during that fateful incident have attracted the attention of criminals even more deadly than the last. His family at risk, Rama has no choice but to go undercover. He gets himself thrown in prison, where he befriends the son of a prominent crime kingpin. Rama must lay his own life on the line to finally destroy the criminal empire.

One of the best action movies of all time! The performances are great, of course from Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, Julie Estelle, and the rest of the cast are fantastic. But the action sequences are so well choreographed and are so raw and bloody. Gareth Evans did good directing this. One of the best sequels of all time. But, overall, I give The Raid 2 a A+ or a 9.5/10.

A bigger & bolder scale but that doesn’t fully convince me that this is a necessary film. Despite some complaints, I still find myself holding my breath during the absolutely bonkers fight scenes. Sure footed in its direction with undeniable choreography & a high quality touch to the filming & editing. Much too long of a runtime yet that helps build anticipation & restraint for when the violence really unfolds. It’s a generic story that has been done better by others with undercover cop & entitled mob son clichés.
