Movie Info

Eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon had always loved Christmas until the playground bully, Charlotte, tells her and the other children that Santa Claus doesn't exist. Not sure what to believe, Virginia and her friend, Ollie, venture into the streets of New York City to uncover the truth. Along the way, they encounter a Scraggly Santa who is trying to raise money for the less fortunate (he admits he's not the real deal, but someone who sort of works for Santa Claus), an over-eager librarian with a shelf full of Christmas books, and interesting advice from Virginia's quirky scientist father. Unable to find the answer, Virginia decides to write a letter to the New York Sun newspaper knowing that their reputation for reporting the facts is cemented by their motto "If you see it in The Sun, it's so!" Virginia's letter makes its way to the curmudgeonly editor, Francis Church, who feels he has better things to do than respond to a little girl's question. But, with Virginia's determination, and a little help from Scraggly Santa, Mr. Church is persuaded to write the answer that became the most famous newspaper editorial of all time: "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!"

Audience Reviews for Yes Virginia

Yes, Virgina is a wonderful shorter version to A Miracle on 34th St. I thought that this film is a delightful version for the kids at heart. Virgina's longing for the truth about Santa brings to mind us as humans longing for the truth about God. How do you believe something that you can't see? In the end, she believed. Do you believe?

An extremely genuine and heartwarming Christmas special that will and should be remembered and watched every Christmas as we all do to the classics like Santa Claus is coming to town, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and How the Grinch stole Christmas. Yes Virginia is a tale that is exceptionally sweet and tells us to not give up and to believe, no matter what anyone else says. This amazing Christmas special made me cry of how emotional and uplifting it is. Yes Virginia, I give you a 100%.

I thought this film came out 2009? Anyways, yes, virginia, this movie is good, but nothing special. An eight-year-old child is being bullied by her friends about Santa Claus. She soon writes a letter to the news reporters to help them out to believe in Santa. A very imaginative film to get kids to choose whether they believe in Santa or not and the little kids to learn that Santa is real and he's not, so no, I'm not going to spoil it for everyone. Beautiful animation, a very good teleplay, and a nice plot to follow.
