They really brought these characters to life, and this season will probably be the most book accurate. See more 06/24/2022 This was my first experience with Chinese anime, and I wasn't disappointed. The animations were smooth, the voice actors were incredible, and the characters were really loveable. However, the story was a bit confusing at times, and I had to watch it twice to understand exactly what really happened. You can still keep up through your first watch, though, but to solidify everything they mention, I'd watch it a second time. Heaven Official's Blessing feels more like someone's lore dump than a show. Someone had a really great idea, and had the backing of a studio, and so they made an entire season out of it. I really hope it gets a second season. However, there's only one problem that really made me extremely frustrated, and that's the romance. The two main characters are consistently demonstrating affection and even flirt with each other by the end, and there's one scene where the two get extremely close to kissing, but you never. See. Them. Kiss. When the season ended, and they didn't kiss, I literally pounded my fist against my desk and said, "No! No!" Because it's just such a frustrating thing, to see them enjoy each other's company and slowly become flirtatious with one another, and in the end, not even kiss. However, huge props to a Chinese studio making gay characters. That's really not common amongst the Chinese media; when watching literally any scene with them, prepare for your cheeks to hurt from smiling. They're way too adorable.
