Overall, the show's charismatic and peppy ensemble is what makes these storylines work, especially because the show is incredibly silly, sometimes painfully.

Alexa & Katie is the kind of show they hardly make anymore: it's entertainment served up with a dash of hope.

The Disney Channel-like sitcom offers a heartwarming, comedic story about battling cancer, coming of age, and the power of teenage friendship.

Relatable teen dramedy centers on a solid female friendship.

Yes, it's a show about cancer, but it's also about hope and friendship and living life to your fullest, no matter your circumstances.

As a comedy, Alexa & Katie is about average, or a little below, if graded against the cable shows it resembles. But it's a little more tough-minded than you might expect.

Alexa & Katie is probably pitched at tweens and pre-tweens with high school dreams and their parents who don't mind leaving those kids with 13 episodes of unremarkable, uncontroversial, completely well-intentioned programming.

Audience Reviews for Alexa & Katie: Season 1

Good premise, entertaining main characters and a good attempt at tackling the "C" word. I can see that it's an entertaining show for tweens. Disappointed with the characterization of the parents and lack of male role models. The show depicts 2 strong mothers who work and take care of the family but one man that is absent and another men that is one big kid with little parenting responsibility. Eddie Shin's character is one that only "does fun". Scenes with girls focus on make-up and boy-talk. Relationship between mom and dad is non-existent with little 2-person interaction and minimal chemistry. They could be 2 strangers in a room.

Terrible acting and is insensitive to real cancer patients.
