Even if you don’t believe Jeff Finn’s Facebook friend is Jim Morrison, there’s more than enough evidence here to plausibly suggest that Jim Morrison at least planned to fake his death. Go to Full Review

Before the End is Finn's case debunking Morrison's death, presented like Robert Stack's Unsolved Mysteries. Like Stack, Finn narrates, filling in the story around interviews, new reels, public records, and information gathered by a private investigator. Go to Full Review

Pete B @RT37223507 03/25/2025 Wow. Just… wow. This might actually be one of the worst documentaries I’ve ever sat through, and I’ve seen some bad ones. It’s supposed to be about Jim Morrison, but instead, it’s just the filmmaker rambling on and on about his own totally unproven conspiracy theories. Like, dude, we get it—you really wanna believe Jim faked his own death and is living Syracuse, but there’s literally zero evidence of anything you’re saying. Also, why does it feel like the filmmaker is more obsessed with himself than Morrison? He constantly injects himself into the story, acting like he’s some genius detective uncovering deep secrets, but in reality, he sounds like an idiot. The editing is a mess, the pacing is atrocious, and there’s so much pointless filler that I lost track of what this documentary was even trying to say. If you love The Doors, do yourself a favor and avoid this trainwreck. This isn’t a tribute to Jim Morrison—it’s just an ego trip for a guy who thinks he’s cracked some big mystery when in reality, all he’s done is waste everyone’s time. See more Judson K @RT80963972 03/19/2025 Stunningly bad. I went into it knowing that the premise was absurd, but figured it might offer an interesting sociological examination of people who persist in believing that Jim is still alive. I know I did as a ten-year-old in 1974, but to still be believing that half a century later requires flat earth-level denialism; so I was interested on that basis if no other. But we could barely get past the intro material, which dragged on so long that it quickly became clear that the filmmaker was simply trying to fill up minutes. We stuck around for a minute or two of "episode 1" proper, until we realized that in addition to glacial pacing and an infantile narative voice, the production quality was on the level of a DIY YouTube video. Incredile that Apple got $7.99 for this dreck. They should truly be ashamed of themselves. See more David R @RT11487597 01/21/2025 Filled with innuendo, half-baked theories and outright fiction, this documentary is so bad no one should watch it, even as a farce or satire. Created by a fan boy who so wants Jim Morrison to still be alive, every decision is framed from that perspective. Avoid at all costs. This is horrible. See more Read all reviews
