05/05/2022 I've been hooked on the "Below Deck" series for weeks, bingeing constantly. I find the characters engaging and some of them very likeable. It's even possible to watch some of the more deplorable characters at the beginning (ie, Gary) turn into decent people. Or maybe I've been on the boat too long... The one character I have a major problem with in Season 3 is the sexual predator Ashley. From the first night she's a vain case of arrested development who is for all intents and purposes attempting to rape (and even actually raping) Gary at every turn, despite his pleading with her to leave him alone (so he can stay out of trouble; he got badly burned in Season 2 and seems to have learned and grown from the experience. He's the charismatic megafauna of this series, and girls want to bed him to confirm their sexual value. This sick little nympho Ashley follows him around trying to force him to kiss her and humping his leg at every turn, and one night takes advantage of him when he's blind drunk. Even in the midst of his blackout you hear him (audio only for the bedroom romps) have the wherewithal to get her OFF of him in a highly satisfying moment of coitus interruptus ("get it OUT, GET IT OUT!!", he wails, from behind closed doors). Despite her failure to fully bag Gary to prove her sexual value, she lies to the others about their less-than amorous encounter and claims it as a fait accompli - her warped prize. Sickening. If a man was doing to a woman what she's doing to Gary the man would be fired for sexual harrassment, and jailed for rape. It's a shame she isn't treated as an equal predatory violator. UGH.
