It celebrates the small, warm moments of a relationship, but truly rejoices in the fingernail-digging anger that surges when your other half takes too long to reach for the door key.

It's a smart premise, niftily jumbling the conventional timeline of romantic relationships on screen.

The show's crass, often filthy jokes are delivered so adroitly they feel elegant instead of juvenile.

Catastrophe is hilarious, dirty, quick, and very satisfying-not unlike the sex lives of its protagonists.

Somehow, it's far more romantic than any rom-com I've seen in a long time.

It's a really likable romantic comedy that takes a lot of familiar material and smartens it up, gives it intimacy; it dodges all of the TV-ized clichs that can turn scripted love into a Ping -Pong game of witticisms and snark.

Comedy is bloody hard to do: which is why, when something as wonderfully funny as Channel 4's Catastrophe appears, it feels so very, very exciting.

Catastrophe is a charming story about love between two grown-ups that doesn't heighten its drama with a lot of artificial roadblocks.

The funniest sequence by far was a painful dinner party towards the end in which Sharon and Rob found mutual solace in hating someone else... In the face of a common enemy suddenly two people spouting bawdy one-liners became a couple.

For all this degeneracy, it isn't plain dark or out to shock. It's genuinely sweet and I care what happens to them.

It is side-splittingly honest: About love, anger, attraction, aging, pregnancy, and "sex musk." It is also, not coincidentally, the finest and funniest new comedy of the year.

You'll smile whenever you say the title; the show's first season, a brisk six episodes, leaves you no other option, because it's so damn likable.

What's best about Catastrophe is how engaging the characters of Rob and Sharon are, and how quickly we come to root for them

Catastrophe is nothing of the sort. This Brit import is one of the freshest and funniest new shows you'll see all summer.

The chemistry between Delaney and Horgan is palpable and could easily drive several more seasons worth of story.

Catastrophe is a wonderfully sharp entry into the rom-com genre, one that does not always work on TV.

[Catastrophe is] an example of how little premise good comedy actually needs: Specificity, yes; joy, yes; charisma and wit and smarts, yes. He's Rob, she's Sharon. And that's kind of it. Go.

Delaney and Horgan, who created and wrote Catastrophe, are a good match - both as performers and as characters.

[Catastrophe] has built a wickedly funny comedy around two people trying really hard, who seem to be falling in love with each other despite all logic.

More than anything, the show, written entirely by Delaney and Horgan, is laugh-out-loud funny.
