The direction of both Karlsen and Zackrisson is impeccable, finely tuned to both the melodrama and the gothic sensibility of Nesbo’s writing. Go to Full Review

I did find myself laughing out loud at a couple of points during the finale of Detective Hole, but that was more at the show than with it, so rushed and preposterous is its denouement. Go to Full Review

Based on the fifth Harry Hole book, The Devil's Star, it's a bit drawn out, but it gets right what The Snowman got wrong. Go to Full Review

It offers the satisfying fiction that, however random the violence of the world can seem, there’s a baroque conspiracy behind everything, if only we can unmask the evildoers. Go to Full Review

The series is well-edited and photographed, has the pacing required for this type of production, and features music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis...which lends personality and quality to a very well-chosen soundtrack. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Hctor R @H0509 2d Una tortuga con asma y fracturada va más rápido que esto. No pido que te informen de todo en los primeros 5 minutos Pero durante 40 minutos no ocurre nada relevante para que te genere el más mínimo interés See more Allyson L @Ally76 6d Huge fan of Jo Nesbo and this series so been on the calendar. About half way and enjoying it. Great cast with endless Scandi actors and actresses. See more Ron G @RT48342791 Jun 9 This series is much darker than I pictured Hole's world when I read the books. The world around him seems to be vying to be more screwed up than he is himself. So you have to appreciate the endless intricacies and unknown atrocities going on around him. If you think about it, we never really know the details of what is going on around us, do we? Well the endless evil plans are all over the world of Harry Hole. It is absorbing to try and figure out how he will ever uncover the truths See more Edward L. @RT53074064 Jun 4 Dwelling on his flaws drags on far too long. Swamps the story line. Stretches credibility to suggest a chain smoking alcoholic who killed a fellow officer while drunk would be employed under any circumstances. Plus he is labeled as the only officer with serial killer knowledge??? No other detective in the entire Oslo police department has been sent for training??? In addition part of the story line is lifted from the movie “Magnum force” with Clint Eastwood. This could be better if he quelled his demons and used his sober intellect to beat the bad cops and serial killer. See more Lane M @RT31121284 May 13 Excellent series, great acting, enjoying this ! See more Jim W @TVViews May 7 I was a full 5 out of 5 until the end. Great acting. Santelmann was fabulous. As was Kinnaman. And a special mention for the kid, Maxime Bochud - awesome job! I thought the script went south with introduction of Willie Barli - both the character and actor - kind of ruined it. I felt really let down, like "you guys can do better than that". Ignoring everything about the theatre twist (which is a heavy lift), I loved the show. The final sentence of the final scene gave me hope for a Season 2. See more Read all reviews
