It's a testament to the medium and another shining example of how animation can provide a memorable onscreen experience as well as any live action fare is able to do.

It's storytelling at its most basic, sound and images moving faster than a speeding velociraptor and brimming with soulfulness.

Oct 8, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

A piece of elemental storytelling that finds some real emotional depth without either of its protagonists uttering a single word of dialogue.

Even if it takes stretching history millions of years, Primal finds an innate truth buried deep in the fossil record.

Nov 11, 2019 | Full Review…

Tartakovsky is one of the maximalist animators of our time, crafting his world with the most visual and graceful extremes and having plenty of firecrackers up his sleeves.

Oct 31, 2019 | Rating: 9.5/10 | Full Review…

The joy in watching Primal comes not from the frenetic action sequences... but rather from how Tartakovsky charts the unlikeliest of relationships from its tragic starting point to one that is, strangely, emotionally fulfilling.

Oct 31, 2019 | Full Review…

Primal makes good on every promise a Tartakovsky project immediately makes: that you'll feel and experience storytelling so earnest, so honest that detachment isn't an option.

Primal proves that [Genndy] Tartakovsky has evolved without sacrificing his core instincts.

Primal is the culmination of years of experimentation, and it's an incredible project densely packed with a wide range of emotions. It's an intense, powerful, and brutal masterpiece.

Primal is an incredible series to look at, stunning in both moments of stillness and in its ultraviolent action.

Oct 15, 2019 | Full Review…

The mix of stylized creatures and fantastic attention to detail makes Primal's action sequences feel like segments from a particularly thrilling nature documentary.

This is a great show for teens with some patience and love of animation as an art form. The art, while not complicated, is simply gorgeous; each minute feels like a study in animation.

    Raw, beautiful, stunning.
  • Jan 15, 2020
A gritty and gripping story that keeps you enraptured with its beautiful illustrations of prehistoric landscapes

It's pure art. Using visual and audio stimuli to tell a wide array of emotions. It's brutal, violent, raw, primal, and human. Each scene conveys emotion and feeling such as being stared down by a mammoth, the show makes you feel small and scared. The show is painful and beautiful. It must be seen, as dialogue simply will not do it justice.

Básica, fuerte, llena de emoción, directa, bien hecha esta serie animada sobre aquellos sentimientos primordiales de la humanidad...

A masterpiece. Genndy is really something else when it comes to visual storytelling. This is one of the most satisfying experiences I have had in quite a while. Definitely the most satisfying show I've seen all year. I'm almost dying to see more.

Excellent! Everything I'd hoped it would be – this show needs more attention! I hope in later episodes they'll explore more of an overarching adventure, or revisit some elements of earlier episodes, but that's by no means a criticism of the episodic, free-flowing nature of the show now; it's wonderful how much drama they're able to mix into such a nonverbal, visceral universe. Highly recommend.

It's the best! Please say there will be soon be more and please revive "Dino".
