Through an "American Idol"-type competition, producers seek a man and a woman to play the lead roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowksi for this Broadway production. Casting calls are held all over the country to select semi-finalists, who then attend "Grease Academy" to refine their skills. The top 12 perform live each week in hopes of avoiding elimination. Ultimately, a "Danny" and a "Sandy" are chosen by viewers.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Grease: You're the One That I Want wants to be the next big reality competition show, but the series is tragically unoriginal and contrived.

Unfortunately, the three judges casting the leads of a Broadway revival of Grease weren't especially clever, funny, nasty or supportive and couldn't hold a candle to the American Idol trio. Go to Full Review
