Eliana Dockterman TIME Magazine Heartstopper is an absolute treat, full of delightful touches like Olivia Colman’s small role as Nick’s mum and little animations that punctuate its headiest moments and call back to the scribbly intensity of the comic. Feb 13, 2023 Full Review Tamar Westphal Slate Heartstopper’s focus on the emotional dimensions of relationships allows it to plumb the characters’ interiority, delving into their confusion without leaping to despair. May 11, 2022 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine It’s hard to be a human in the year 2022, and so we all need our little treats. Mine, this past month, was Heartstopper. May 5, 2022 Full Review Donal Lynch Sunday Independent (Ireland) In the first outing, adapted with extraordinary skill by Alice Oseman from her own graphic novel... Feb 2, 2024 Full Review Jason Fraley WTOP (Washington, D.C.) I dare you to find a more realistic teen couple than Charlie and Nick, a credit to the actors. Gay and straight viewers will empathize with their journey, cringing when bullies spit homophobic slurs and cheering when relatives show unconditional love. Rated: 4.5/5 Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Mimi Wong Mediaversity Reviews The kindness and warmth between the series' women provides a refreshing take to the cattiness other media tends to project onto teen girls. Chelsea J I’m positive suppressed that cast is like book’s character. No changing, no problems and “better opinions”. Series is a little dumb and unrealistic, but that the idea so I think is very good for young people, nothing amazing and must have to watch, it’s ok Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Amara T You love these characters. Their love and their relaationships are a warm fuzzy blanket. You want nothing but the best for them. You want them to be happy. Kudos to the actors form being able to portray the most minute of emotions through a split-second expression. You laugh and you cry. It's both a comfort show and the one that breaks your heart because of how heartfelt it is. And maybe so the show is aptly named.
