No consensus yet.
Viola Davis is an incredible actress and we are privileged to see that week in and week out. When you put her opposite another hardworking, fearless star such as Cicely Tyson, the result is magical.
I'm under the weather right now. It really stinks. And yet last night's How to Get Away with Murder made me completely forget for 1 hour how bad I felt. For that Cicely Tyson, I thank you.
If I thought Marcia Gay Harden and Davis were giving an acting masterclass in their scenes together last week, well the combination of [Cicely] Tyson and Davis takes it to a whole new level.
This is a moment worth rewinding and repeating, so we can unravel the grace, the twistiness, all of it. And the fact that Tyson, at 81, can steal the show with a character that is at once funny, conflicted, and confounding is remarkable.
Feel free to replace that box of Kleenex now. Better start engraving that Emmy for Cicely Tyson, too.
