Clever, chaotic TV writer Saoirse, glamorous, stressed-out mother of three Robyn, and dependable, inhibited carer Dara have been a tight-knit group since school. Now in their late 30s, but still as close as ever, these three friends are about to embark on the most thrilling adventure of their lives. When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, a series of eerie events at her wake set them on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond as each tries to piece together the truth of the past. A show about friendship, memory and what happens when life doesn’t turn out quite like you'd expected.

Stretching its tone in different directions without ever snapping, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast is another triumphantly funny and proudly Irish series from creator Lisa McGee.

Vastly entertaining and flagrantly Irish, the show serves up so many different tones that it's like watching one of those performers who can juggle a chainsaw, a puppy and a bowl of jello while playing a banjo with their teeth. Go to Full Review

enjoyed the twists of Greta’s story but I could have done without some of the more bizarre turns in the later episodes. I kept coming back to the show instead for its bleakly funny portrait of middle-aged friendship. Go to Full Review

What you’re really here for is the combustion between the three friends because it’s absolutely gas. Go to Full Review

This is a series that magically combines meditations on the way we edit our memories with debates on red velvet versus lemon drizzle cake. Go to Full Review

...the essence [of the series is the same as Derry Girls]: Irish female characters full of personality, witty dialogue, and an emotional chaos that reminds us that some friendships can survive anything. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Robert Z @RobertZ Jun 15 This is a highly entertaining albeit highly contrived whodunnit. An excellent cast and witty repartee keep it worth watching and save it, even though the conclusion falls flat. An entertaining yarn nonetheless. See more RTP, LLC T @RT55945699 Jun 9 This series starts off fun, mainly because of the quirkiness of the three main characters (Note that unless you're familiar with Irish dialect you'll have to turn on subtitles to understand much of what's being said). The fun holds up for about three episodes and then gradually turns into a muddled, confusing mess with all manner of strange characters and improbable situations suddenly popping up all over the place. The mystery of whodunnit and where is she and what really happened back in their school days becomes so lost in the confusion that you just stop caring anymore. Couldn't finish this because it just became too much of an effort. See more Aye E @RT43717499 May 25 This was super enjoyable due the characters and performances. The quirkiness beyond the 3 leads was fun but heightened to a cartoonish level, kind of felt like this was based off a graphic novel. They main mystery was convoluted and became less and less interesting but the main characters kept me engaged long after I lost interest in the mystery. Once everything was revealed in the finale the emotional payoff had no impact for me, I just thought that's it? It was only satisfying to see the story resolved. No interest in seeing this show continue. Unless there's room for the blond lady's put-upon but decent husband to get a bit of appreciation, he was not wrong. Overall the men in their lives seemed a bit abused by the main characters - those parts weren't really funny. See more Katie M @Secularhellhound May 20 Loved each of the quirky 3 leads. I wanted to know more about every side character as well thanks to the writing and acting. Even the scary characters had moments of humour. I did not find it to be stretched out to too many episodes. I value having more information about characters I am enjoying. This show is stacked with interesting and bizarre characters that will hopefully make you curious! See more Bogdana M @Bogdana May 16 This should have been four episodes, not 8. Would have been much more enjoyable if it wasn’t painfully dragged out. I do not care about a second season because I can’t devote another 8 hour film. See more Jane G. @hooky2 May 11 Started great but halfway through the plot fell apart. Left me with the feeling of “Why did I watch this dreck?” See more Read all reviews
