Season 1 of Into The Badlands does a great job of creating an atmosphere thick with conflict, making you genuinely wonder how the story will continue, combined with some genuinely excellent action sequences. However, it does suffer from one catastrophic problem: The more interesting facets of the story are almost always on the outset, so while you would like to see how things play out in this interesting world, the great moments are continuously deferred, with most of the engaging moments actually being unexpected interruptions of the flow of events. Essentially, this is like an extended version of Season 1 of Castlevania, in that it acts much more as a way to establish all the players, the factions, the stakes and the tone, the last of which is actually too consistent, the entire Season offering virtually zero minutes of actual levity. In its own right, Season 1 of Into The Badlands is still certainly worth watching, but it's the Second Season where the show becomes legitimately great.

Badlands delivers extravagant action that consistently put a smile on my face. But I was ultimately disappointed by its tasteless melodrama, superficial characters, and cringe-worthy dialogue.

What a creative and interesting show. Into The Badlands is groundbreaking television in that it truly implores Full length feature style visuals and action on the small screen. The plot about a post apocalyptic world where a feudal system has returned and the Kingdoms are at war is the basis for they sci-fi, martial arts, action thriller. The characters are the heart of the show. They are all complex and interesting and memorable. Daniel Wu is commanding as the lead but his cast supports nicely. There is no other television series where the martial arts action and choreography rival the work done on Into The Badlands. The sad thing about this show is that it only lasted three (3) seasons. There was still so much more to do and learn.

One of the best shows I've seen in the last 10 years, amazing action scenes, a very endearing cast and an original creative world. I didnt quite like the first season but if you stick with it you'll get addicted. Dont listen to the critics almost every normal viewer that watched this show loves it.

This extremely unique series has it all. Good story, Strong characters, beautiful cinematography, and fantastic combat choreography. A must see series - My fiance and I both hope someone picks up this series and continues the adventure!
