Critic Reviews for iZombie Season 5

What's beautiful about the way iZombie makes its political statements is that everything is so baked into the show's mythology, that it never feels ham-handed, but naturally fits into the world of the show.

Doesn't give us a conventional ending and that's okay because this show has never once been conventional.

We're hoping for apocalyptic shenanigans with healthy doses of dark humour. But instead it's looking like we're going to get pedestrian cop-drama and some awkward relationship B-plot up until the very end, and that's a shame.

Anyone hoping that Seattle's new leadership would help ease zombie-human relations on iZombie was out of luck during the show's fifth and final season premiere on Thursday.

[It] is a relatively weak opening offer for iZombie, a series that needs a strong comeback after an "ambitious but frustrating" season.

We have many of our favorite characters at the helm of their respective areas of expertise and positions, but from the looks of it, nothing has progressed since we last saw them.

May 3, 2019 | Rating: 3.5/5 | Full Review…

Much like the slow, often scary changes we've seen in the real-world, iZombie's setting has lost much of its sense of stability, resulting in acts of violent desperation that have become frighteningly more common in real-world America.

Audience Reviews for iZombie: Season 5

This may not have been as good as previous seasons but this was a good conclusion to the series, but I felt conflicted on how it ended. The writing and story was fantastic this season. I loved that Don E. killed Blaine but I felt that it sucked that Liv killed Don E. but I got why she did it. The acting was outstanding especially from Rose McIver, David Anders, Robert Buckley, Rahul Kohli, Aly Michalka, Malcolm Goodwin, Jennifer Irwin, Bill Wise, Bryce Hodgson, and Valerie Tian. The makeup and hairstyling was excellent especially on Rose McIver, David Anders, and Aly Michalka.

it's been 6 months since the events of Season 4 and what a cliffhanger Liv was the leader, Renegade smuggling humans into New Seattle to make more zombies, she lost her boyfriend to execution, Isobel a girl whom was immune to being scratched died but Ravi found a potential cure for zombism, Blaine's father fell due to his poor religious uprising against the humans, Clive got engaged, and Major became the new commander of Filmore Graves plus he also put Blaine in charge of distributing more brains to the zombie populace Peyton as the mayor does her best to keep the face of stability in check with both zombies and humans while also sniffing out crime lords all seems well as it looks like both humans and zombies have hope of co-existing with one another of course it would only be a matter of time for things to fall apart, a murder takes place making the zombies look guilty by association Here it's all about shaping public opinion of both species; some want to live harmoniously but most want to intentionally start a war Blaine then faces intense scrutiny from everyone as it looks like he's paying for the sins he committed Even Liv finally comes face to face with her estranged father since her mother has completely cut him out but a huge reveal leads to what sparked this whole series' inception An election is not about us vs them, it's hard living with others who hate one another but we work at it, every struggle doesn't end or begin with a single move, do we see each other as monsters or equals? The finale leads to the biggest face-off between zombies and humans sealing the fate of the world forever But could a viable cure still be on the table offering hope to many? The last scene is bittersweet but not overly emotional, still it's a nice soft closing chapter for these beloved characters for how far they've come since the zombie outbreak Producer Kristen Bell and the creators made a funny, gory and socially relevant program about zombies acting as second class citizens as well as telling how two different races can attempt to make it It's risky, not always friendly but somehow we have to learn to put our weapons down and co-exist even if we are stuck with one another Thanks so much Rose McGiver for making Olivia Moore one of the coolest undead characters to walk the screens! Rest In Peace iZombie

Great season really hope it gets renewed

I have been hooked since the beginning and while the viewership has declined season to season, the writers still have surprising elements to present. Each season has gone in a different path than I may have expected but that has been pretty good. I would say the wittyness is a key aspect to the enjoyment of the sh
