This documentary only reaffirms what we always knew: that Juan Gabriel was, is, and will remainsituated between the public and the private, between the individual and the crowd. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

José María Cuevas's documentary is not simply a collection of memorabilia about a singular figure; it is an intimate and narratively thrilling deconstruction of one of Mexico's greatest idols. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

In the end, 'Debo, puedo y quiero' feels less like a posthumous homage and more like a conversation across time. It reminds us that memory isn’t only about looking back, it’s about keeping someone alive through the stories we continue to tell. Go to Full Review

Clara S @RT76825881 Nov 26 The most beautiful, heartwarming, amazingly well-done documentary of 2025. I watched the 4 episodes twice and would watch them a 100 times more, I'm sure. See more Cyns Corner @RT39853018 Nov 3 I didn’t know who Juan Gabriel was until I met my husband, who’s from Mexico. He turned out to be one of the most fascinating, unique, and influential performers I’ve ever learned about—a true one-of-a-kind. Shaped in many ways by a deeply tragic childhood and complicated relationship with his mother, Juan Gabriel became one of Mexico’s greatest singer-songwriters and entertainers whose fame extended through much of the world, including the United States. He completely broke the mold in how he expressed himself and connected with audiences, becoming a beloved force in the music world. Considering the conservative values that dominated much of Mexico at the time, his success was all the more remarkable. If you’re a fan of Juan Gabriel, I highly recommend this series. It’s four episodes, each about an hour long, offering a fascinating and candid look into the unusual, mysterious, and impactful life of the man behind the legend.
