The family and family dynamic have evolved. Kimchee's role increasing in the last two seasons has really been a positive aspect of the show. Mrs. Kim's disease is an example of how the show incorporates serious issues into the fabric of a funny and heartfelt show. It is sad that this show will not be returning; however, it is, perhaps, more important that the five seasons filmed were ALL very good and enjoyable. The Kim family is a wonderfully warm, funny, and quirky show that I really enjoyed. I was disappointed to read all the criticism that Simu Liu Had for the show. He is entitled to his opinion but as an outsider I see the show a great family show and one that positively exposes non-Koreans to Korean culture and language in a way that makes them see their own family in the Kims. See more 10/22/2021 The abrupt ending somehow works in the show's favour - there are no forced 'big events' that are staples of series finales. Little of significance happens, much like life, but the show nevertheless concludes on a fitting note of warmth, joy and family.
