Lead Children (Olowiane dzieci) is an all-too-relevant story that will resonate with many, with a hopeful note that keeps the series from fully venturing into despair. Go to Full Review

Sure, Lead Children has flaws (...) However, my criticisms about the miniseries can be rendered moot by the simple fact that this is yet another wake-up call for parents. Go to Full Review

E S @RT35255746 Mar 27 It's a compelling story but the dubbing was very jarring for me and detracted from my overall enjoyment. Why on earth did they use people with British accents who cannot pronounce Polish words? There are many Poles with excellent English who could have done the voice overs. Jola's voice actor couldn't even pronounce her own husband or son's name. The way everyone pronounced Silesia and Katowice was insulting. The Anglicized dialogue did not reflect the way Poles would have spoken in the 1970s. Cinematics, props, costumes, the 'feel' of 1970s Poland were all spot on. I also feel that the portrayal of Jolanta reduced her to a naive hothead who marched about like a bull in a china shop - I'm certain that the real-life Jolanta was far more circumspect and strategic. That said, I enjoyed the production itself but would have preferred to watch it in Polish with subtitles (my Polish is not fluent enough to watch without). Highly recommend!!! Wish there were more episodes or similar shows to watch See more Dorota D @Dorotex Feb 22 I went into this show after reading about the real Szopienice lead‑poisoning scandal and listening to historical podcasts, and I came out disappointed and honestly angry. This should have been a tribute to two intelligent, determined women — instead it feels like a slap in the face. The main protagonist is almost unbearable to watch: not smart, not strategic, just running around shouting and antagonising everyone. Confronting the secret police in the 1970s like an idiot? In reality she’d be arrested in minutes. Important events happen off‑screen, locals are portrayed as dumb, and the science is reduced to flipping through a book. As a Pole, I wish I could say better things, but no — great topic, badly told, and deeply disrespectful to the real people involved. See more Sky B @Ermagerd Feb 18 "A Heavy Topic Undone by Amateur Execution." Despite its serious subject, this film collapses under ham‑handed direction, camera‑aware performances, and a dragging pace. The suffering feels gratuitous rather than meaningful, and the story becomes predictable to the point of inevitability. Ultimately, it plays like an amateur production rather than a compelling drama.
