Critics Consensus

Lethal Weapon's overly polished production values and tired narrative are somewhat overcome by solid chemistry between its two leads.

As recycled material goes, this doesn't reek as bad as I expected it would.

Crawford and Wayans prove to be a pretty good fit, as actors if not always as partners.

Too many new shows this season are based on old movies, but try not to hold that against Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, whose odd-couple pairing as TV's answer to Danny Glover and Mel Gibson actually works.

High body count. High cute quotient. Extreme yawn value.

Ridiculous, yes, but it's a show that is honest about itself, with a surprisingly endearing performance from Crawford.

Really, it's less like the original Lethal Weapon than it is like that episode of The Simpsons where Homer bullies Gibson into making another one.

Dec 29, 2017 | Full Review…

Crazy action, critical moments, shots, explosions, gracietas, persecutions, liters of testosterone ... The series gives what is expected of it. [Full Review in Spanish]

Jul 10, 2018 | Full Review…

It's not that it isn't fun - it just isn't anything we haven't seen before, and television should be getting better, not lazier.

Dec 20, 2017 | Full Review…

This is pretty good TV that isn't trying to be great or, even worse, trying to be gritty.

Aug 11, 2017 | Full Review…

I don't generally make a final decision on a show until I've watched a whole season, but just five episodes in to Lethal Weapon, I can without a doubt say it's the best guilty-pleasure show of 2016.

May 3, 2017 | Full Review…

Lethal Weapon... feels extremely familiar. In part that's because the original movies set a template that we've seen imitated countless times on TV without the movie's title attached the program. Now they've gotten around to using the title, too.

Sep 12, 2016 | Full Review…

Nothing here will make you forget the original film, but this series version is fun, fast-paced and not without charm.

    Man this is so great

    Awesome! Love Rigg's story!
  • Sep 28, 2019
Was nervous at first to see a great film series go to tv. I was hooked. Binged watched two seasons
  • Apr 27, 2019
I liked the movies a lot, but I can't get over the horrible casting that is Damon Wayans as Roger Murtaugh. Who's idea was it to cast a standup comedian as the straight man of the team?
  • Jan 17, 2019
First of all the person who took Clayne Crawford off the show is so stupid and shouldn’t even be allowed to produce movies or shows !!!!!! I loved it until you put the actor of American pie on there really do you even know what you’re doing ? No!!! obviously not , they are not even the same person ! So I am highly disappointed with the out come of the producer and will not watch any more of what he’s apart of !!!!!! PS YOU SHOULD FILLM CLAYNE CRAWFORD IN MORE FILLMS HE REALLY PORTRAYS HIS CHARACTER!!!!! I really think he can make a lot with movies and shows !!!!
  • Oct 03, 2018
One of the best shows on tv, but then I heard Riggs is gone and I won’t watch again. Seriously get Riggs back!! What were you thinking?
  • Sep 29, 2018
Riggs is the best actor I have ever seen. He had me in tears, laughing and in fear without speaking
  • Jul 26, 2018
the worst remake ever. Crawford must have been a bum on the streets as his acting is just that bad! thankful he and his attitude have been replaced.
  • May 12, 2018
Didn't think I would enjoy it at first, being a fan of the old movies. But the casting actually turned out much better than I expected. Got into the show pretty fast and now it's one of my favorites. Great stuff.

Love this show. Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans have great chemistry. I was really skeptical at first but the actors have made Lethal Weapon their own. The show is Dramedy just like the movies. It is fun and full of surprises.
