Remove any suggestion that something bad could happen, however, and you’re left with a big budget Wish You Were Here on bikes. Go to Full Review

It may not entertain viewers less invested in McGregor and Boorman’s friendship, or vintage motorcycles, or relentless rain. But the footage of them riding eventually becomes mesmerising, in a gentle, slow-TV kind of way. Go to Full Review

If this is the last hurrah they are going out in style and, in McGregor’s case, in a most unspanner-like way. Safe home, boys. Go to Full Review

It’s the personal reflections and more remote locations they seek out that continue to be this franchise’s secret sauce. Go to Full Review

Long Way Home has an ambling quality about it that suits a travel-centric show, all of the scenic shots you’d expect and a level of bff banter between Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman that’s enjoyable. Go to Full Review

Gray S @Grayzee Mar 6 If you are one of the 'adventure bike' riders I see everywhere loaded up with all the gear to pop to ASDA's then you'll love it! Actual motorcyclists, don't waste your time. I'm sure Ewan's bike runs on pure smugness. See more Diane B @BklynWriter Dec 27 Like the Seven Up series, there's something poignant in watching the stars get older, wiser, and less inclined to bang themselves up on a road of bones vs. the paved roadways of Estonia. See more Buck T @BuckTrevor Dec 9 My wife and I found it mesmerizing and looked forward to winding down while watching each night. Traveling, sightseeing, and camping vicariously through two guys who genuinely seem to care about each other. See more Jenny B @RT50708335 Jul 9 So disappointed! Been a huge fan of the Long Ways since 2004 and was so happy they were doing another. I watched the whole thing in high excitement of seeing the riding, the relationship between the guys, and the places. Very sad that (1) nothing with the camera people, like how hard was it for them to ride both on one bike? We barely saw Claudio or Max, (2) doors shut all the time, and even the ending was doors shutting in our faces, (3) very little of the day-to-day, relationship, goofy stuff that was fun in the past, and (4) hardly ever ever saw Russ and Dave and the support team. Big disappointment. Shut those doors in our faces! Don't share intimacy or much fun at all. Many good things, but this was even worse than Long Way Up, where it was super sanitized. This was even more sanitized. Good stuff and good activities, but no engagement, a quick event and then off again! More detail and more access to the actual life on the road would have been more satisfying. Sorry, wish it was better. It introduced me into the world of adventure motorcycling I really haven’t looked back. Whether or not you’re invested in motorcycling, this series is worth a watch. It takes you far from the beaten path and you can catch a glimpse into the lives of people from many different cultures around the world. Ewan and Charlie have a very good and healthy relationship, which makes their banter and observations interesting and entertaining. The one thing that rings true about bike travel, both in this series and in my own experience, is that people, no matter where you happen to be, will almost always drop what they’re doing and lend a hand if needed. This instillation, “Long Way Home” is in many respects the best of them all. Much less stressful, easier paced, and the route through Northern Europe is simply stunning. The people are beautiful, and Charlie and Ewan’s interactions with them are in many instances very touching and heartwarming. Ewan’s natural charisma and presence is plainly evident, and his warmth and enthusiasm is infectious, even when the folks have no idea who he is. Charlie is also very charming and has a fantastic presence on camera. I highly recommend getting to know this series, it’s brilliant and a breath of fresh air.
