What to Know

Critics Consensus

While Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser's chemistry remains charmingly in tact, Mad About You's relevance does not.

Watching Mad About You feels like visiting each and every long-term couple I know - but there's still not much to be said, or that many laughs to be had. Go to Full Review

Is it worth watching? If you liked the original, I think so. But of course, if you don't have Spectrum, it's irrelevant, because you can't watch it. Go to Full Review

Paul and Jamie are so awful in their return that it's hard to remember why we liked watching them every week in the first place. Go to Full Review

Naturally it's now something of an intergenerational comedy, but the scripts are still strong and Hunt and Reiser amply demonstrate that they still have chutzpah and chemistry in spades. Go to Full Review

The revival of Mad About You is a pleasant watch that doesn't try to do too much or remind you of the original series. And, as far as revivals go, that's pretty good. Go to Full Review

Kelly B Sep 28 I watched this too late and I wish I watched it when it was originally on to give it ratings. Seriously funny, very well written. See more 05/15/2021 Paul Reiser is one of the funniest people and performers out there. But for this "reunion" he seems to have said to his writers: give me scripts that make me look like a loser and a dodo, so that the other actors around me can look better. What a mistake. How can a tv show dislike its main character so much and survive? They also drove Richard Kind into the ground, and made Mabel one of the most selfish-without-being-funny characters on TV, so that one is relieved-beyond-words at her last episode. One mistake after another. In its original form, Mad About You was at least as funny as Seinfeld, and definitely more meaningful, with real acting - a show that treated its audience as if we had more than a two-minute attention span. But not this update, which takes people we loved and makes them into clowns -- not in a good way. See more 06/08/2020 Just a whole bunch of very unlikable characters. See more 05/27/2020 Absolutely fantastic! If you enjoyed the original you'll love this. Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt are simply divine! Really Hope there's a 2nd revival season. See more 01/23/2020 Fantastic so happy to see you back together with such a good show haven't missed a beat hope it keeps going See more 12/29/2019 Just finished binge watching this show and can't wait until the next ones come out. I love the relationship Jamie has with Paul. I'm trying to show the same type of love for my spouse. See more Read all reviews
