Lee has a gift for spotting fellow-rhetoricians and performers. The inclusion of these voices distinguishes NYC Epicenters from the slate of obligatory 9/11-anniversary specials airing this month. Go to Full Review

4/5
Despite Epicenters' grim subject, Lee finds room for levity -- he's an empathetic interviewer, often asking subjects to repeat a particularly powerful line, or talking about their sports, and there are entertaining tangents throughout. Go to Full Review

Virtually every interview provides a new perspective. Lee serves as off-camera interviewer, allowing the subjects and the stories they tell to be front and center. Go to Full Review

Valerie J @RT85094956 09/14/2023 I love Spike Lee. He has a way of making you care. If you have not seen Blackkklansmen, you will know what I mean by the choice of his ending in that movie. I could not stop watching this series, yet there were parts that I found difficult to watch. There is a lot of raw footage and there is definitely stuff that has probably never been seen before. There were many times when I had to stop watching and just cry - tragic stories from the pandemic, from 9/11, and from the far too many cases of police brutality against black people. If you have the emotional stamina, go for it! Binge it! It is highly informative and the interviews are amazing. If you are like me, you may want to take it slow... Wow. I will watch it again one day. See more 10/20/2021 I'm from Romania and I felt the emotion of that moment watching this. I was a little boy watching TV when it happend.. I was on the other side of the world .. great documentary. 10/10. See more Read all reviews
