What to Know

Critics Consensus

One Piece season two offers higher stakes, a larger scope, and plenty of adventure without buckling under the pressure of being a near perfect live-action adaptation.

In its second season, the series continues to embrace theatricality and artifice on a grand scale. Go to Full Review

Even after an excellent first season, One Piece Season 2 feels like a wildly impressive level-up in many respects. Go to Full Review

Owens, Tracz, and the writers continue to capture the secret sauce of this work, one where literal cartoon characters are regularly granted unexpected depth. Go to Full Review

If you love the absurd, embrace the insanity, and the pirate’s life is for you, then One Piece remains a standout in a sea of crime and family dramas. these are criminals redefining what family is. Go to Full Review

This adaptation can be described as a great victory: it translates and condenses a vast fantasy world without losing sight of what makes the series so special. Go to Full Review

Season two is a masterclass in adaptation, far surpassing the first! I loved how they fully leaned into the weirdness of the world while delivering massive emotional payoffs for every character. It’s heartfelt, inspiring, and a perfect adaptation. Go to Full Review

Lorrie W @RT5690311 1d S2 live action has got me hooked too and almost at the point that I’m seriously considering getting into the manga/anime See more Mayank A @Mayank197 1d Loved it, keeping the strong flow from season one flowing. Got action, adventure, mystery and emotions. Although not sticking to the original works frame to frame, I am still good with the re-imagination , just I feel they have nerfed Luffy's fighting power a lot. Also what's with the bad production design for Marine signal post, and the modern wardrobe for Zoro and Sanji, felt they just walked in on whatever they were wearing that day, maybe getting ready for promotional gear sale. Still a great watch See more Susana K @RT689 2d I just binged the whole thing and loved it. The world is so surreal. And the characters are perfectly cast. They have such interesting and unusual looks. I was sad it ended, and hope there's a third season coming. See more Elisha I @asapidox 3d A fun season that gradually improved as it went along. The early episodes were enjoyable but fairly steady, while the second half delivered stronger moments and better momentum. Not quite at the level of the best episodes from Season 1, but still a solid adventure with a stronger finish. See more FatBoy T @RT00720840 Jun 14 Season 2 confirms my worst fears: Netflix is no longer adapting One Piece, it is rewriting it. What made Oda’s story beloved for decades was its characters, themes, and worldbuilding. Instead of respecting that foundation, the writers seem determined to replace it with their own ideas. Characters behave differently, motivations are altered, relationships feel rewritten, and key moments no longer carry the same meaning they had in the manga. These are not necessary changes for a live-action adaptation. They are deliberate decisions that push the story further away from the source material. The result is a series that borrows names, locations, and plot points from One Piece while increasingly abandoning its identity. It feels less like an adaptation and more like fan fiction written by people who believe they can improve on the original. This is not the One Piece I grew up with. It is Netflix’s version of it, and that is exactly the problem. See more Aden D @Demonphantom16A Jun 13 A perfect season with a bigger world set up, perfect casting and more deeper stories in this season. See more Read all reviews
