The cast are uniformly impressive, especially Cowell, whose approach to acting and writing feel completely in sync. Both his performance and the script carefully avoid lecturing and overdramatising. Go to Full Review

Claudia S @RT41642290 03/12/2025 Bloody fabulous Brendan Cowell! Magnificent cast! Beautifully done! A must see! See more Ashleigh W @RT34294403 01/29/2025 Really enjoyed this series. Big fan of rugby league and it was great to see a tv show that dipped into footy culture. (Also nice to showcase league, not AFL, which is usually the case for Aussie footy dramas.) Brendan Cowell is clearly a die-hard. Plum was funny, poignant and thought-provoking. BC was so believable as a rugged footy star. Loved that all characters were realistic and had flaws (except maybe Gavin? I really felt for him, felt like everyone in his life just let him down) I was really moved by the final ep, especially the last few scenes at the Old Bike Shed. Took one star off because of a few decisions that I felt took me out of the story every now and then. I don’t know why the ‘Act 1,2,3’ device was used each ep. Didn’t make much sense to me. And a few times I felt like the conversations didn’t make sense in their settings. Why was the journo in the backyard of the fancy house when she just dropped by to try to convince Plum to chat? If she was just dropping by, wouldn’t she be at the front door? Also the accents of the two hallucination characters kinda pmo. Apart from those minor things, it was a wonderful, heartwarming series. Well done to all involved See more Robert O @RT78487949 12/07/2024 This story starts slow but then sucks you in to a beautifully crafted and heartfelt series. Acting is uniformly excellent although at times one gets irritated by the characters it's because we don't live in the sporting spotlight with the glitz and insincerity that accompanies it. CTE is an issue that sporting associations are slowly coming to terms with and the series beautifully exposes the tragic consequences. Well done Brendan Cowell for all that you contributed to the series. See more Janet R @RT36366736 12/04/2024 This is beautifully nuanced, superbly written, acted and directed. The characters are so well drawn and the cast work brilliantly together. While it might seem like a slow build, it is totally worth sticking with it as it just gets richer and deeper as it moves on. Hopefully this will bring much needed attention to an issue so relevant to many sports. See more Ange M @RT82351450 11/18/2024 Just watching an episode where they supposedly go to Forbes. I have family in Forbes, and this place is nothing like it. It might not matter to the creators of the show, but you could’ve at least tried harder. See more richard l @RT28933171 10/29/2024 Absorbing, creative, great cast and acting. See more Read all reviews
