Documentarian Adam Curtis’s positively fascinating 2021 documentary Russia 1985-1999 TraumaZone: What It Felt Like to Live Through the Collapse of Communism and Democracy does exactly what it says on the tin. Go to Full Review

M d 03/21/2024 A masterclass in editing and a demomstration that the power of Curtis' films lies in his ability to construct visually arresting, thematically stimulating narratives that weave around to construct and deep sense of the FEEL of a period, not necessarily just his now iconic voiceovers. See more Greg K @GregZ 06/23/2023 This series is nothing more than a masterpiece, illuminating and traumatizing at the same time. Don't expect Curtis' babbling voice or spheric music accompanying the pictures. Only text, subtitles and this unprecedented footage conveying a certain narrative or understanding of a very disregarded time in human history, at least from a occidental point of view. It is no exaggeration to state that every viewer can or will understand the desperate state of the russian society a little bit better. Be advised: utterly distubring footage.
