Critic Reviews for Sabrina, the Teenage Witch Season 1

That's a slight divergence from the comic book, and I'm sure someone out there has written better analyses on how "Sabrina" usurped stereotypes, but as far as meaningful adaptations go, this one is right up there for a lot of '90s kids.

If ABC didn't already have a new comedy called "Clueless," it would have been an appropriate name for "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."

The gimmick worked for "Bewitched," and it ought to work just fine for "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

The writing is clever, the cast members hold their own, and Jenna Leigh Green is an absolute joy as the series' Plastic Heather.

But where the Sabrina in the comics is a winky, slinky minx, the TV Sabrina is a more satisfyingly down-to-earth witch, a girl as anxious about peer pressure and curfews as she is comfortable with levitation and hexes.

But unlike that old by-the-numbers bonehead comedy starring Elizabeth Montgomery, this new series comes equipped with a brain.

The show is airy comedy for preadolescents, who might like it as a pleasant respite from drearier TV fare.

Still reminds me of coming home after school. Great Sitcom, but the Last season was not my favourite. Sabrina should have stayed home.
