What to Know

Critics Consensus

The second bundle of The Bad Batch retains all the same virtues and vices as the first: a slick Star Wars adventure geared toward diehard fans at the expense of more casual viewers.

It’s a little Dirty Dozen, a little John Cassavetes’ Gloria. Andor’s sustained brilliance has rewritten expectations for a live action Star Wars series, but on the animation front it’s still very much variations on a theme. Go to Full Review

At its best, the show’s second season is a frustrating reinforcement of the previous season’s problems. Go to Full Review

It has its fair share of flaws, but the sophomore season adds a welcome touch of sophistication in a franchise that can’t rely on Andor to do all the heavy lifting. Go to Full Review

The last two episodes of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 are devastating and brilliant. Go to Full Review

The show is of those things that if you catch the “wrong” episodes you’d dismiss it as just another cartoon but hit the “right” episodes and you’ll get more great writing, storytelling and action that fits right alongside the other Star Wars series. Go to Full Review

Still rewarding for dedicated Star Wars fans, yet relying more favourably on its overarching plot and characters rather than singular adventures, The Bad Batch steps up and establishes itself firmly as a worthy Clone Wars spin-off. Mission accomplished. Go to Full Review

William M @RT61821956 May 1 The first half really drags. Even considering some of the filler episodes are meant for younger viewers, the tone of the season is consistently very bleak, and you get the sense that the characters are tired, which radiates off onto the audience. Luckily, things pick up in the back half and there are two Crosshair solo episodes that are both phenomenal. The finale is also devastating, perfectly setting the stage for an intense final season. See more Anny V @RT42035835 Jan 5 I like season 2 way way more than season 1. And characters are in the center and you do become one of them. Its funny, emotional and smart development that is I dare to say very well done. We need more things like The BB i like it alot. Music is very good snd sound motive is uniqe. Overall top show. See more stefan C @RT89536469 Dec 9 Better then season 1 great story and drama! See more Ash P @AshParth Nov 26 We continue the second season of the Bad Bunch where the crew had survived the sinking of Tipoca City thanks to Crosshair as Hunter, Echo, Wrecker, Tech, and Omega starts to work ends meet with Cid in various missions. Of course, they aren't alone when it comes to having progression with the story and the character development. Crosshair is still under Empire's orders on his side of the story as he's assigned to clone commander Cody. As he may be following orders, he starts to doubt the Empire down the road as soon as Cody deserts after the mission. Crosshair even learns more that Omega was needed after meeting up with Dr. Emerie Karr, voiced by Keisha Castle-Hughes, who is actually a female clone to Jango Fett, residing at the Tantiss facilities. More of that plot unfolds as soon as Crosshair and the Bad Batch cross paths once again. Some say that this is an improvement to the first season, which I kinda agree a bit when it comes to Omega, yet on the sense on the Bad Batch's line of work as far as working with Cid goes, a couple of them does feel like filler when it comes to paying their debt away. Some of the missions include teaming up with this pirate, Phee Genoa, voiced by Wanda Sykes. They go to this planet where this group of scavengers who were treated poorly under a dictator named Makko, voiced by Jonathan Lipow, and teams up with Benni Baro, voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, who stole the Marauder as the Bad Batch were mining ipsium mineral for Cid. Then they help out this young Wookie Jedi youngling namned Gungi, who was a captive to the criminal cartel, Vanguard Axis, who they were selling chain codes that Tech has forged. They traveled back to Gungi's homeworld, Kashyyyk, which was ravaged and slaved by a group of Trandoshan mercenaries who worked for the Empire. Where the story does catch up is when Rampart asks the Imperial Senate to authorize the replacement of the clone army with conscripted Stromtroopers. However, Senator Riyo Chuchi, voiced by Jennifer Hale, advocates' for the clones' rights and was approached by a clone trooper named Slip, whose friend was killed after questioning Rampart's storm story, which was covering up what really happened at the intentional destruction of Tipoca City. It becomes more complicated that Rex had to call for the Bad Bunch to travel back to Coruscant for help. Then you have the plot I'd mentioned that happened later in the season when Hunter, Tech, and Wrecker had thought about settling down on Pabu for Omega's sake. However, Crosshair had sent a message to the Bad Bunch, warning them that the Empire is looking for Omega. Echo, who disbanded from the Bad Bunch to join with Rex temporarily delivered some data about their secret Advanced Science Division, or ASD. I would explain more, but that would mean I'd give way more spoilers. Now as far as the season goes, it's decent that they catch a break once in a while from the story with the side-missions, which I think were fun on their own. A couple of them were just as filler as some folks had mentioned. Doesn't stop the Bad Bunch developing their chemistry and familial bondage any further. They're more than just a band of clones with a genetic mutation that doesn't have them obey the Empire. They're like a family and would do what's best for Omega. Especially in the final few episodes. Even I feel that Omega would have a better life since she's been through a lot since the last season and throughout all of this season. Of course, she does improve her attitude not as she was, but as a character that she would reach out to others alongside her brothers-in-arms. There is a death that does hurt me on the inside, except I will not reveal who it was. If you do know, you know. The animation is still top notch with how it keeps itself on track for being as dark as it's made for as to how it's on the same level as the Clone Wars has been in later years. The voice acting is still great, especially Dee Bradley Baker who still voices every clone, including the Bad Batch. Michelle Ang still delivers as Omega improves as a character. The new actors are good for what they're worth and for a short time they have throughout the season. It is a sixteen episode long season, so the story will go between doing missions to tackle the story between the Bad Butch and the Empire. Overall, it does improve in a couple of spots of the plot, yet does hold back to some of the missions being as filler as some would say. Again, a couple of them I liked in a mild manner, the rest I enjoyed more as equally as the plot twists of the story within the Empire goes. Still impressive voice acting and animation to keep the series going. Which is why I will give the second season of the Bad Batch eight and a half dinner party on Pabu out of ten. 8.5/10. Every bit as good as the clone wars. If anything it might even be better. Love that they continue the story line after the fall of the republic and revisit previous characters. Big fan.
