In this improvisational comedy competition, four plucky guest stars must walk into a live comedy sketch about which they know nothing beyond the costumes they have been given. Their task? Improvise their way through the sketch with the other actors onstage until a judge mercifully sounds a horn. In each sketch, the guest's entry is greeted by another actor saying, "Thank God you're here!" The guest proclaimed the winner by judge Dave Foley takes home a cheap trophy -- and, of course, bragging rights.

Brian Lowry Variety 10/08/2019
Hit-miss in the way improv almost invariably is, the show feels flabby at an hour, leaving a premiere that yields a few of the cheapest kind of chuckles on just about every level. Go to Full Review
Dan Kois Slate 10/08/2019
Why doesn't NBC ditch the scripts, turn on the cameras, and let these performers do what they do best? Why won't TV say "Yes, and..." to some real improv? Go to Full Review
Barry Garron The Hollywood Reporter 10/08/2019
There are clever moments in NBC's new improv series "Thank God You're Here," but you can get awfully restless waiting for them. Go to Full Review
Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) 10/08/2019
It would probably be better at 30 minutes than an hour, and not everything works. But there are enough laughs you won't regret it if you tune in. Go to Full Review
Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 10/08/2019
"Thank God You're Here" is an amusing exercise that's largely family friendly. It's not nearly as funny as "Whose Line," but the show is gently entertaining in a way reminiscent of variety shows of old. Go to Full Review
