This follow-up series to "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is set 70 years after the events of "Avatar" and follows Korra, the next Avatar after Aang, who is from the Southern Water Tribe. With earth, water and fire under her belt, Korra must master the art of airbending. Korra's quest leads her to Republic City, a virtual melting pot where benders and nonbenders live together. But she soon discovers that the land is plagued by crime and a growing antibending revolution that threatens to tear the city apart. While dealing with the dangers, Korra begins her airbending training under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin.

Much of the frustration with Legend of Korra is warranted, particularly around the political narratives it's endorsing. At the same time, Korra denies us the easy solutions that leave us feeling cozy after watching Avatar. Go to Full Review

The martial-arts action segments are unparalleled (like an animated Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), but Korra's status as one of the great feminist cartoon heroines secures her place on this list. Go to Full Review

Korra's growth from brash and impatient teenager to capable leader and mature woman is incredibly satisfying; Korra managed to be one of the best series about a female superhero since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Go to Full Review

Better than its predecessor, not only because it centers the experience of a complicated young woman, but also because it was a show that dared to end on a note that confirmed it had been about the romantic connection between two women all along. Go to Full Review

[Kuvira] is a fearsome beauty, possessing a strength and determination that could rival Amon, or even Zaheer. While her motivations for this new world order are still unclear, she should be an interesting addition to this season Go to Full Review

I loved this show by the end, and I can't tell you how happy it made me to see such a strong lineup of female characters, led by the strongest who was a woman of color. Go to Full Review

Casey U @CaseyUrich Jan 9 Second favorite show. Leaving a review to boost ratings because people are dumb. See more BERNALT V @miamicuz Nov 22 I like the original Avatar series See more The Cursed Legion T @GAVINSISEMORE 01/21/2025 Korea struggles and unbearable amount and still manages to treat everyone well, the return of toph was Awesome and the protagonist couldn't have been written better. Overall the korra series is one of the best shows I've ever seen. I often come back to re-watch and enjoy the show once more. See more Jonah T @RT45589864 07/11/2024 Didn't used to love it but after many rewatches learned to really love the season. I really like how uncomfortable this season makes you, its hard to see Korra struggle so much to a point where you almost feel negative watching it. But thats the point of Korra, its much more real and raw than ATLA is. Its more mature and even though its not perfect like ATLA is its still a great watch. I think the show just suffers from having to live up to its predecessor. But most creators would kill to make a show this good, See more Kbro S @RT41133126 04/19/2024 Great show but I just wish they continued avatar after this See more Kyle E @Plady 04/09/2024 A great finale to the sequel series See more Read all reviews
