Kevin L @Lakeman 12/20/2021 This is still my favorite era of boxing. My brother and I used to watch boxing on Saturday afternoons, ABC Wide World of Sports. Hagler was the man. Durant was this wild man machine. Hearns seemed to be skilled, but got beat up quite a bit. We had little use for Leonard. Yeah, he had great boxing skills, but for us, counter-punchers were kinda weak. They had to fight like that, cuz they were power guys. We loved Ali, too, but his best fights were in the past and he was a mess by '78 and should've been forced by his people to hang it up. Hagler beat Leonard, just as Hearns did in their 2nd fight, but we came to know about how sketchy (read: filthy) boxing often was behind in doors where betting was boss. Wish they had mentioned how Leonard wouldn't fight Hagler unless they got the biggest ring they could sanction (so he could run away and not get cornered as easily), the biggest gloves (cuz the smaller the glove, the closer it was to bone hitting your grill), and it was no more than 12 rounds (cuz he didn't think he could go 15 with Hagler). Awesome video, behind the scenes details, and content on the origins of these four tremendous fighters. 4 stars See more Read all reviews
