The only child of George Harrison, Dhani Harrison worked on his ex-Beatle father's musical legacy before becoming a musician in his own right. Dhani was born in 1978 to George Harrison and his wife Olivia, and grew up in the family's famous Henley-on-Thames estate.  For much of his young life he didn't plan on being a musician, even running out of his only drum lesson with Ringo Starr because he didn't like the noise. He studied industrial design and physics at Brown University in Providence RI and planned to follow another of his father's interests, car design.  However, George's death in 2001 prompted Dhani to become involved with producer Jeff Lynne in finishing up his final album Brainwashed. Soon afterward he played the Eric Clapton-organized concert in his father's honor, where his guitar talent and his physical resemblance to George were duly noted. Later he played in the 2004 Grammy version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (a performance famously dominated by Prince) and helped Wu-Tang Clan rework the same song, now called "The Heart Gently Weeps."  Dhani's own band, thenewno2, was formally introduced in 2008. Originally a collaboration between Harrison and drummer Oliver Hecks (who also worked on the George Harrison tribute show as a photographer), thenewno2 expanded to a full-band lineup, with a sound combining Beatlesque vocals with modern loops and programming.  After their 2008 debut You Are Here, Harrison launched the acoustic supergroup Fistful of Mercy with Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur-a concept that he compared to his father's Traveling Wilburys. Harper guested on thenewno2's second album, thefearofmissingout, as did Wu-Tang's RZA.  The band went on hiatus after scoring Richard LaGravenese's film "Beautiful Creatures" (2013). In a first-time collaboration of second-generation Beatles, Harrison worked with James McCartney on the latter's 2016 single, "Too Hard."  Dhani's solo debut, In/Parallel was released in October 2017. The album presented Dhani's vision of psychedelia, combining trance-hop elements with obvious Beatles roots.
