Gadi Schwartz was an American television journalist who became a national correspondent for NBC News in March of 2016. As the son of a prominent TV news journalist for Univision, you might say that journalism was in Schwartz's blood. His father, Sergio Schwartz, worked for the network for many years, and was primarily stationed in South America. As a result, Gadi was born in Guatemala City, and grew up speaking Spanish as his first language. His father's burgeoning news career moved the family to America when Schwartz was just 7. They ended up settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Schwartz would spend the remainder of his formative years. Fascinated by his father's adventurous career, at the age of 18 Schwartz decided that he too wanted to become a professional journalist. When it came time to attend college he stayed close to home by enrolling in the University of Mexico. Schwartz studied Government and Journalism at the school, and left four years later with his Bachelor's degree in both disciplines. Now fresh out of college with his journalism degree in hand, Schwartz embarked on a career as a TV news journalist. He quickly landed a job at KOB in Albuquerque as a general assignment reporter, and before long was anchoring the weekend newscasts. After nearly a decade of years learning the craft of TV journalism in his hometown, Schwartz was asked to join KNBC in Los Angeles as a general reporter. Working in the second largest media market in the country could have been somewhat of a daunting challenge for Schwartz, but he easily became one of the station's star reporters. Throughout his tenure at KNBC Schwartz drew praise for his reporting on the California wildfires, as well as the November 2015 mass shooting in San Bernardino, California. Schwartz's reporting at KNBC eventually caught the notice of the head of the news division in New York, who thought Schwartz would be a good fit for the national news team. Schwartz made his debut as a national news correspondent for NBC in March of 2016.
