Jon Vitti began his long career in comedy while still a student at Harvard University; he worked as a writer on the legendary student humor magazine "Harvard Lampoon," also serving as president with future "The Simpsons" writer Mike Reiss. After graduating from college, Vitti landed a job on the writing staff of the long-running sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live," but quickly left due to what he felt was its grueling schedule and hyper-competitive atmosphere. In 1990 Vitti accepted a job as a staff writer on "The Simpsons" and has since written and produced over 20 episodes of the iconic series, including the fan favorite "Mr. Plow," in which the show's lovably goofy patriarch Homer becomes a successful snow plow operator who boasts his own catchy jingle. In addition to his work on "The Simpsons" TV series and the 2007 feature film version, Vitti has also penned and produced multiple episodes of the HBO meta-comedy "The Larry Sanders Show" and the Mike Judge animated series "King of the Hill." In the 2000s, Vitti branched out into story consulting, working mainly on animated films like the Pixar feature "Robots" and the 2008 adaptation of Dr. Suess' "Horton Hears a Who!." Vitti has produced several episodes of the award-winning sitcom "The Office," based on the British workplace series created by Ricky Gervais, and has landed writing credits on both films in the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" franchise.
