Lewis Johnson
With firsthand knowledge about the field of competition, Lewis Johnson steadily became one of the most well like sports broadcasters in the business. He began his career as an All-American NCAA track and field athlete at the University of Cincinnati. He placed eighth in the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships in 1987 before competing in the Olympic trials the following year. Johnson made it to the semifinals before he was eliminated. He would continue to compete internationally, coming up just sort of the U.S. Olympic team again in 1992. The following year, he began switching his focus to broadcasting, working as a "runner" for ABC Sports behind-the-scenes at the Rose Bowl. By 1995, Johnson was working for ABC as the post-race interviewer for the Track & Field World Championships in Sweden. Johnson began covering ESPN College Football for the network that same year. As he climbed the ranks, Johnson eventually switched over to NBC Sports in 1999. By this time, his personality was in such demand that he was asked to play a sportscaster on an episode of "Walker, Texas Ranger" (CBS, 1993-2001) and in the movie "Friday Night Lights" (2004). Lewis would work as a sideline reporter for AFL on NBC from 2003-2006, and covered various events at over eight Olympic Games beginning in 2002.
