Deadpool is obnoxious and puerile and infantile and has an irritating meta tone so snide that it's constantly in danger of nullifying the entire movie -- and I still got a pretty big kick out of it.

Some jokes were good, but most of them were juvenile sex jokes on the order of "That's what she said", and most unforgivably--two of them were well-known old chestnuts, the one about the brown pants and the Thanksgiving and Christmas legs. Solid, fairly creative action scenes but at times too gory for me, especially with Wade Wilson's vulnerable skin disfigurement. The boyfriend coaxed me to watch this on the plane, and I'm just glad I didn't pay to see this.

Ryan Reynolds' nearly flawless portrayal of the Marvel anti-hero is the standout amidst all the hysteria, destruction and entertainment that the film rightfully displays. 5/5
