The rebellious protagonist will rally girls and children, but adults may find Flicka saddled with thin characters, over-the-top dialogue, and a plot that wanders into the countryside and never comes back. Read critic reviews

May 23, 2013Awful action; worse script. Shallow characters no one could believe or care about. I just wanted to grab the reigns and ride Flicka full-trot to the glue factory. A total waste of time. I was mostly offended by the immoral message imparted to children which seems to approve sassing their parents.Christian C Super Reviewer

Dec 02, 2011My mother dragged me to this one. It was pretty boring and too girlish for me. The plot was trying too hard to be good when its just a horse movie. The cast was pretty good, nothing amazing. Overall its not really worth seeing in my opinion.Bradley W Super Reviewer

Oct 24, 2009I found this to be a really beautiful film. The locations were fantastic. Some of them looked gorgeous. The acting was great. Alison Lohman did a terrific job as Katy. Some of the horse scenes, epescially the chasing, was shot very well. The characters are all interesting, each with a sweet side that you can easily take a liking to. The coming-of-age theme is used very well with the character Katy, and a lot of the other characters, including the wild mustang Flicka. The other thing I loved about this was the family struggling with their money. I thought they handled this type of theme really well with the storytelling and characters. This isn't just a cliche' "horsey" film for little girls, it's something that everyone will enjoy, even the boys. I'd even call it a great family film. It's beautiful.James H Super Reviewer
