peter m @RT23053942 Jan 4 First of all, David Harbour was PHENOMENAL at playing Hellboy like he captured his main aspects almost perfectly similar to the comics, his deep rooted emotions, cockiness, how flashy he is and his way of feeling and acting which is great. BUT the movie lacks a main focus, the main storyline feels slightly rushed with more going on throughout the movie than it should, they could have chopped down on the amount of side story's and focused on one main one. Overall a solid movie which gets WAY too much hate just because it doesn't live up to the standards of the public or diehard nostalgia chasers who enjoyed the older movies and complain its not as good as the old movies or it wasn't as "comic accurate" which if you read the comics, then you would know that this movies portrayal is arguably BETTER!!! Also the unkept, rugged run down look is so so much better, especially when its David Harbour wearing it. People need to get a grip. The vulgar language, music tracks and bad choice of actors ruined this film completely, not to mention the actual storyline (if you can call it that) which did not make sense in the slightest as his father has died twice now. Bring the old cast back please. See more Toni G @RT61304157 Aug 31 It's apparently that most of the "critics" have never read a Hellboy comic, before attempting to critique a Hellboy movie. They think the original trilogy was better, because it was flashier. This movie felt FAR more like the comics, than the originals. Harbour did a fantastic job in his portrayal of the character, and his disheveled look is much more like the original character depiction. That said.... Where the movie struggles, is the plots. Not that they're bad. But, there are just TOO MANY going on at once. They could have picked 1 arc (or even 2 shorter ones) and made a fantastic movie out of it. This is a classic example of biting off more than you can chew, and not knowing your limitations. Overall, I definitely recommend watching it at least once, if you're a fan of the character. Because, if nothing else, it does him justice. See more Alec B @Alec97 Aug 30 Neil Marshall would initially seem like the right guy to adapt Hellboy but he clearly isn't all that invested in the character (he definitely likes the specifically English mythology).
