Two-bit crook Harry Lockhart (Robert Downey Jr.) stumbles into an audition for a mystery film while on the run from the cops. Winning the part, he lands in Hollywood, where he's flung into a tangled, murderous conspiracy with his childhood sweetheart, Harmony Lane (Michelle Monaghan), and hard-boiled private eye Perry van Shrike (Val Kilmer). This deadpan, affectionate parody of film noir tropes is named for film critic Pauline Kael's influential 1968 collection of film reviews and essays.

Although the novelty of a protagonist whos aware hes in a noir thriller grows tiresome, the comic banter between Downey Jr. and Kilmer remains priceless for much of the film.

Dumb. With a capital D. This is why Rotten Tomatoes reviews can’t be trusted. Don’t waste an evening with this trite, over acted, poorly stylized, dumbly written story, and boring movie. Can’t believe how dumb this was.

Brilliant! It sure shatters just about every LA / Hollywood stereotype in a very sassy manner. Funny haha and also funny peculiar. Classic in so many senses of the word. Great cinematography and visually stunning. Very intelligently written and suitably convoluted story. Stellar cast all excels in character. Fresh takes on so many angles, very entertaining

I really enjoyed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! It’s a fun mix of comedy, mystery, and noir vibes that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer have great chemistry, and the script is sharp with plenty of witty dialogue. The story has some twists that kept me guessing, and the quirky tone makes it a unique watch. Overall, a solid film that's definitely worth a watch if you're into clever, stylish crime comedies. - flickswithmigs
