Charles S Jul 9 Technically this was well shot and there is some beautiful art showcased, so you could do worse than putting this on with subtitles in the background at a gathering. Unfortunately I can't imagine someone being interested in most of the subjects interviewed, but it does give you insight into the lives of some typical gamers who dream to make their hobby a business See more Piplish L 03/16/2023 This is a fantastic deep dive into the world of miniature wargaming that I didn’t know I needed! What really stood out to me was the decision to follow regular people and the impact the hobby has had on their lives, rather than focusing on well-known businesses and personalities. Instead of going for the low-hanging fruit, we’re brilliantly introduced to people like Andy Bryant, a war veteran seeking peace and purpose through wargaming, and Chris Nicholls, who’s chasing his dream while fighting to support his family. Their stories were genuine and relatable, adding a whole new layer of depth for me. It’s easy to see how much wargaming means to everyone involved, it’s not just a pastime but a way of life. The film also does a great job of explaining the history side of things, with insights from industry leaders like Rick Priestly and Warlord Games. It gave me a better understanding of everything that has happened over the years to get us to this point, which is something you don’t often think about when you’re just rolling dice and moving figures around. If I had to nitpick, as someone relatively new to the hobby, I was hoping to learn more about how the games and figures are developed and made. I also wish there had been a couple more upbeat moments, as Andy’s and Chris’s journeys, while incredibly moving, were pretty heartbreaking at times. A bit more balance with lighter, celebratory stories could have added more variety to the emotional tone, something I guess they were going for with Matt and Adam, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite happen. Overall, I’m really grateful this film was made. It gave me a new appreciation for miniature wargaming and the hardworking people surrounding it. I can’t recommend it enough!
