It's clear almost immediately that filmmaker Steven Spielberg is using Schindler's story as a clothesline upon which to hang a more all-encompassing portrait of the Holocaust... Go to Full Review

SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch May 25 "Schindler's List" is a classic film that depicts a significant historical event, all presented in black-and-white. With a runtime exceeding three hours, it offers a profound narrative experience. In my opinion, the film's direction is exceptional, and the casting choices are commendable, making it a notable cinematic achievement of its era. However, I find it challenging to revisit; the film's impact feels diminished in today's context. Given the advancements in filmmaking as of 2025, the stark black-and-white visuals and slower pacing seem out of place. Had I seen it when it first released, I might have appreciated it more. Watching it now, especially amidst a cinematic landscape rich with special effects and innovative storytelling, I felt it lacked the engaging elements I typically enjoy. This isn't to say it's a poor film; rather, it simply didn't capture my interest throughout its lengthy duration. Despite its acclaim and cultural significance, I found it wasn't quite my style. See more Alden M 03/02/2023 Shows the horrors of war & racism. True story well acted & plotted. Black & white better represents the historic period & basic mood of the events. Very well done See more SICKS6SIX S @sicks6six 02/04/2023 this is good a cinema gets, it informs you, it is great visually, shot in B&W to recreate the era and the scene, and it goes some way to answer THE question of how did it happen, the extremes are there to be seen if you look, too far to the right or the left and you have problems, a highly cultured people treat others as if they are less than human, less than animals, the German guards treat their horses and dogs better than they treat the Jews/poles. gipsy/ communists etc, the scenes of German officers from upper-class families playing Wagner & Bach as they take potshots at people as they work shows how extremes are dangerous, be in the middle be boring is the message this film gave me. you are NOT better than anyone else, you are NOT superior, and of course financial greed, the Holocaust was an industry and that industry was human life, its value, its profit, think of people as building materials and you start to get how this happened, this film also says as soon as someone does something that takes away your liberties and singles you out resist, fight, never except what they do to do, See more 01/14/2022 Even though you don't like documentaries or movies about the history, you'll love this one.
