The story follows Claire and Luke, two employees trying to document paranormal activity before the hotel shuts down. While the concept has potential, the execution falters due to uneven pacing and a meandering screenplay. Director Ti West creates some effective atmosphere with dimly lit corridors and eerie framing, but tension builds sporadically, and jump scares feel inconsistent. Sara Paxton and Pat Healy deliver engaging performances, their chemistry providing small moments of levity, though supporting characters are underdeveloped. The supernatural elements remain vague, and the tonal mix of subtle horror and dark comedy clashes at times. Sound design and cinematography are competent but never fully elevate the film.
