In a fall full of unsurprisingly terrible new shows... 666 Park Avenue's first episode is a welcome departure from the norm.

With a story that constantly feels ten steps behind, it's impossible to get invested in drab characters whose fates already seem sealed.

Overall, the pilot episode of this new series was great. 666 Park Avenue is no American Horror Story with pushing the limits of television horror, but it has potential to be a suspenseful hour on Sunday night!

O'Quinn and Williams are a match made in TV-marriage heaven as Gavin and Olivia, the owners of the show's ominous NYC apartment building The Drake; both actors clearly enjoy their slightly sinister roles.

Stylish Gothic thriller that almost gives away a little too much Sunday. Otherwise, thumbs up.

The script contains few surprises, so viewers are unlikely to be as intrigued as they are frightened.
September 30, 2012
What must have sounded frightening on paper falls dead on-screen, done in by bad writing and terrible pacing.

Not even an ounce scary.
September 30, 2012
It feels more like a stationary Love Boat anthology geared toward predictably unhappy endings.

The production values are first-rate, the performances convincing, and with 60 units in the building, there's a wealth of potential stories to keep "666" in ABC's address book for several seasons.

Until some of the smoke clears, the smart move would be to rent, not buy.

666 Park Avenue doesn't entirely lack a pulse, but doesn't get the blood rushing either.

It's just kind of meh and a TV show with a devil at the center should be more fun than that.
September 30, 2012
I thought this horror tale would be more fun and creepy than the pilot, which was kind of confusing and slow.
September 30, 2012
There's an element of camp as well, and that's much-needed in terms of tone.

Better than a haunted house story, 666 Park has the potential to seduce audiences with a mix of grandeur, drama and horror and an underlying message on what's truly valuable in life.

O'Quinn (aka Locke) brings the right level of creepiness to his devilish role, while Taylor and Annable are appealing as the young lovers.
September 30, 2012
This potent mix of suds and scares does a good job of setting up several intriguing mysteries. I'm in for now.

Who doesn't love watching attractive, successful people tormented in gruesome ways?

666 Park Avenue is a nice place to visit, even if we don't want to live there for a multitude of reasons.
