In today’s despoiled blockbuster landscape, the fact filmmaking this energetic, ambitious and sheerly eccentric remains possible is no cause for complaint. Go to Full Review

On paper, it’s predictable material. But like the best romantic comedies, the chemistry between Brammall and Dyer and the particularities they bring to their characters elevate the whole thing. Go to Full Review
Judy Berman TIME Magazine 12/01/2023
There’s a lot of messy behavior and raunchy humor here, and the show is smart about the way it addresses the age gap between Ashley and Gordon. Fans of rom-coms about charmingly imperfect couples will surely find another favorite in Colin From Accounts. Go to Full Review

It is, in short, a wonderful and hilarious romantic comedy that rightly puts a twist here and there on the conventions of the genre, to build something essential for lovers of this type of fiction. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Not a show that’s going to stick with you and make you think about life, but it might make you laugh. The lead actors, also the creators, give it their all showing more vulnerability and relatability as the season progresses. Go to Full Review

Dave N Oct 6 The premise of a relationship blooming from crippling a dog was off putting, as is the constant reminder with the crippled dog in every episode and often being the center of the story line in the episode. However, if you can get past that this is an enjoyable show. See more Will B Sep 7 Honestly, I thought the show had promise. I watched the entire season and thought the writing was quite good. However, even though it's comedy - I literally loathed all of the female character Ashley's friends. There was literally no one likeable in the least. Their behavior towards Gordon was so over-the-top nasty throughout the season that it made me think - wow - if that's how Millennials and Gen Z are in Australia - the continent is definitely not getting my tourism dollars. Ever. Additionally I am neither a prude nor someone who has never been to wild parties. But these too (with Ashley friends) were wildly hedonistic and borderline fetish to the point that I was like - sheesh man. I've been to cocaine fueled benders and I never saw people act like this. (And then behave in disgusting fashion to their "friend's" boyfriend.) All I could think is wow - Ashley doesn't seem to care about peoples' characters much - and if one is influenced by the 5 people you spend the most time around - Ashley herself probably has, at the end of the day, a very nasty internal character. I also thought it was typical of the filmmaking community (largely made up of the political Left regardless of the continent) to insert modern politics into everything - and preach THE MESSAGE" to everyone as if they are the only ones with REAL morals. Not much effort at balance. Although, to be fair, I thought Colin from Accounts did a little better job at this than many other contemporary shows. At the end of the day, I think it's too bad that the show has just about zero moral compass. It preaches at those who get pronouns wrong while making it seem totally okay for Gordon's best female friend to decide she doesn't love her husband anymore - and instead of getting a divorce - begin an affair - and Gordon and Ashley help try to cover it up. In the end, the friend's marriage falls apart, the kids are left with a broken home - and the friend's affair ends as well. Now she's alone and a cougar on the prowl. But hey! It's all good. So, you know. Gross. And hypocritical. THE MESSAGE just isn't one I agree with or admire. Which, is sad because I think the show's creators are talented people. They just could have done so much better. Bottom line? Even a few laughs here and there don't make the show worth it. See more Donn A Apr 15 A dynamic duo! Great supporting cast & brilliant writing. 😅 See more Stephen G 01/14/2025 What a wonderful, quirky, funny show, with just a dash of drama here and there. The dog is cute, but really serves as just a plot device for getting the two main characters together. Great acting by the two of them as they display lots of humor and lots to like about both, along with some normal human frailty. The Australian comedy on display here is a bit more slapstick and bawsy than what American audiences might be accustomed to. But it all feeds into the show's overall charm. Season Two was sadly not nearly as good as Season One, but I'll address that separately in reviewing Season Two. See more John N 01/04/2025 An under explored reality of the world. Australians and the way they live. Absolutely Hilarious. See more Lorrie W @LorrieDub 12/07/2024 We hadn't heard anything about Colin from Accounts when we stumbled across it and decided to give it a go. It's one of those cringe-y, completely inappropriate, sweet, awkward, hilarious and charming comedies where you fall in love with the characters and find yourself simultaneously rooting for them and horrified by them. Can't get enough. See more Read all reviews
