12h agoFirst and second seasons were great. Where did season three come from? Very disappointing . Would not recommend it at all.

Dec 02, 2022I would've liked to see a 4th season, but I think moving to Netflix spelled its doom. Since the producers had more freedom, they were able to make the show more cutting, bringing in openly gay and trans, and I think that may have turned off many viewers. Also, many were probably against the idea of paying for a channel when they were able to watch previously for free, albeit with ads. They probably wouldn't have been able to see President Kirkman on the toilet, cursing a Rubik's cube, though.

Nov 30, 2022How the mighty have fallen. This is the shortest season out of the 3, and I still couldn't watch it until the end. The swearing, the nudity, the characters. It's all so bad.
-
Oct 10, 2022I feel that the show has lost it's depth. The bad language, nudity and poor story changes with new actors that made no sense. I stopped after the first episode. I had not interest to further watch the story.

Aug 09, 2022I absolutely loved the first two seasons. Well written. Terrific acting. Enough twists and turns to keep me glued. That all went out the window for season three. Awful, predictable story. Plot lines that came straight from every talking point of a hard-core Democrat. The entire season felt like a infomercial for the DNC. For a "Independent" President, the final season was anything but. Watch the first two seasons and stop.
-
Aug 08, 2022Binged this recovering from flu. So I vote for the Democratic Party but seriously, did Netflix subcontract the screenwriting for season 3 to the DNC? This was laughably insulting.
-
Jul 12, 2022The last season fell off the cliff that the second was hurtling towards. That had more ongoing side plots with various and totally new characters than they had time for. Not to mention the numerous and jarring cast changes and unceremonious exits.

Mar 22, 2022Well, that hurt my eyes in a way I cannot explain. How did such a good show ended up like torture...

Mar 20, 2022The show always had limited range of field as it was built on a singular event premise (The whole government being wiped out save 1 unproven unwanted inexperienced survivor). It blossomed and climbed due to the charisma of Keifer Sutherland, and several good supporting roles, as well as structured writing that didnt take extreme chances, but never insulted the audiences intellect and kept them tied in to Sutherlands President they all rooted for vs every politician in the show trying to backstab or get rid of him. Season 3 they decided to have the show overtly declare itself a modern social platform. Interweaving plots of Dynasty level selfish villany and internal issues, even making Sutherlands character no longer as virtuous or dependably good. But the big crusher was folding in unrelated social commentaries. Showing the graphic sexual relationship of his homosexual security staffer and the aids fear that came with it just felt out of place and forced. Not that I deny homosexuals have relationships or are entitled to have them depicted on camera...but this show wasnt about the after hours relationships of the security teams newest member. (The show is about Keifer Sutherlands character. and they never once showed HIM having graphic love scenes?!?!) It was SUPPOSED to be about the Designated survivor turned president and in 2 episodes the aids fears and sexual politics between staffers took 3x as much screen time as scenes with the stars?!? They ruined the feel, the pace, and the plot flow with all the forced melodrama and LBGT posterizing and completely forgetting the successes that built the show: The characters of the president and his closest inner circe of family and staff surviving the evils of DC politics and hidden forces at work to deconstruct the American goverment! Instead, s3 the characters were written into Blake and Fallon and Alexis clones. Popular characters were removed/killed off to make way for the new social direction that required replacements being more socially relevant(Non white, LBGTA, special needs, etc) Im glad it ended. I really couldnt enjoy after season 2. (Killing off Maggie Q and Lamonica Garret's s1 characters were huge mistakes! The characters were good, and the actors were very good in the roles). I hope they learn to respect the core audience. vs wrecking ball writing hoping to attract smaller groups and losing the audience that got your 1st season renewed.
