Daniel N Jul 14 Interesting and informative. Overall very enjoyable. Would have liked a few more episodes as it felt like a lot of content was skipped over or only touched on very briefly. Kevin Costners average narration also let the series down. You could tell he was just reading from a script or teleprompter without much enthusiasm. See more Big C Jun 28 Basically a History Channel documentary. If you've watched any of the History Channel series you'll see familiar academics providing their inputs into the history of the time. The story telling is almost entirely biased toward the tribes that fought the American settlers and US Army as they pushed west. Embellishments to the stories try to convey that the nomadic tribes had a chance against the modern western expansion of the Americans. The "Fetterman's Fight" episode was the worst example of this where a massacre of just 81 US Soldiers, unfamiliar with guerilla warfare and undisciplined in their ability to spot a trap, is considered "winning a war with the US". See more Brian E Jun 15 Interesting doc, but it is riddled with A.I. generated images, so can't recommend. Kevin Costner's narration is flat and boring. See more Jim K May 29 Very well balanced regarding the various groups involved. I really appreciated the fact that they showed how the motivations and pressures were influencing the conflicts and the outcomes. Nice pacing and very engaging. Obviously with limited time there were alot of elements and story lines that had to be minimized or barely mentioned. See more Magnus A May 28 Interesting marketing. Fairly well made show, good interviews with real experts and some not so relevant non-experts. I am baffled by Kevin Costner's role and truly awful narration. Costner reads as if it's his first time through the script - painful halting phrasing, some odd pronunciations. This from a good actor...odd...? See more blind b May 27 Definitely enjoyed the first few episodes! Visually stunning, strong narration from experts, strong performances, and educational. See more Read all reviews
