Alan Sepinwall What's Alan Watching? (Ghost.io) 3d
It understands why the story has resonated for over 70 years, and become a middle school English class perennial -- and the ways in which it feels especially, unfortunately, timely at the moment. Go to Full Review

Some sequences, like the first wild boar hunt, are filmed by Munden in a way that puts you right there with the boys -- and as the boys transform from frightened to feral, it's hard to shake, and to forget. Go to Full Review

Led by an astoundingly talented cast of young actors and brought to life with painterly brushstrokes of vivid color and horrifying imagery, "Flies" is four episodes of captivating, edge-of-your-seat horror. Go to Full Review

Moody, atmospheric and horror-influenced, it's a vibrant take on a classic that doesn't abandon what the book was all about (*cough* *cough* Animal Farm) but adds enough of a modernist spin to feel fresh. Go to Full Review

A truly disturbing look at how easily society could backslide into primitive savagery if you take away law and order. This series is beautiful, tragic, and absolutely mesmerizing to watch. Go to Full Review

The result is overwhelming and fabulous, but it may not resonate with all viewers. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Kristopher M. @Murmur78 3h Brutal to watch but excellent cinematography and music. The only complaint I have is a CGI animals. See more tps T @Militarybooks1114 5h Typical Netflix. Has to be gay sex or the allusion to it, even if the boys are 10 or 11. It was boring anyway and no where near the book. I turned it off. See more Eric C @user165141425 10h Why can’t someone make a good version of this book into TV/movie form? This is very boring and has a ton of "filler" imagery and has poor pacing and entertainment value. Don’t waste your time watching this. I want to see a good Lord of the Adaption, but I guess we’ll never see one. See more David V @Redforeman 11h I really wanted this to be good as it is one of my favorite books. The child actors were great. However the directing was overindulgent. Dreamy and at times silly. I made it halfway trough the third and couldn't do it anymore. I don't think the sexual innuendo between 10 year olds was necessary either. I get the relevance to primal emotion but...It really became the director pushing too much of themselves into the film and ruining classic literature. See more Angela D @RT63484606 16h Terrible show waste of time See more Theresa D @TessaD007 18h To everyone saying this series was "amazing," you’ve clearly never edited a video in your life. The editing in this Lord of the Flies adaptation was terrible, lingering far too long on dull transition shots and scenes that added nothing to the story. Key plot points and the deeper meaning of the book were completely missed. The boys’ acting was solid, but the editing is where things fell apart for me. And what was going on with the coloring? It felt inconsistent and distracting. On top of that, the writers left out so many important parts of the original dialogue and themes. As someone who loved the novel, this adaptation felt like a disgrace to Golding’s work. It almost seemed like the writers looked at the criticism of the 1990 film and tried to make the exact opposite, but it didn’t work. I saw another review calling this "the cousin of Adolescents," and I couldn’t agree more. See more Read all reviews
